New research from the University of Southampton in the UK shows sun can help lower blood pressure.
Based on the research published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology sun exposure is known to alter the levels of nitric oxide (NO) in the skin dilate blood vessels and lowers blood pressure.

"A small amount of NO dikirimkah blood flow to the skin, reduces the blood vessels of the busy work. Well, as low blood pressure and the risk of heart attack and stroke," said Professor of Experimental Medicine at the University of Southampton, Martin Feelisch, such as Channel News Asia. Research team reports, analyzed 24 volunteers were each given irradiation with ultraviolet light (UV) tanning for 20 minutes in two sessions.

In the first session, volunteers will be given exposure to UV light and heat lamp. During the second session, the exposure is stopped with UV light, so that only heat lamps are hitting the skin of volunteers. The results showed that blood pressure decreased significantly participant arising from exposure to UV light.

These results complement the data of blood pressure and cardiovascular disease are known to vary according to season and region (latitude). People with high blood pressure are in countries that are far from the equator, often where the ultraviolet rays of lower intensity.

"Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight can prevent skin cancer, but is not affected at all, anxiety can increase the risk of heart disease," said Feelisch. Some health experts, especially skin health against the duration of exposure of the skin to sunlight. They assume that the sun as a cause of skin cancer.

"We are concerned about this situation, because the well-intentioned, that death from cardiovascular disease is to explain higher than skin cancer," says Richard Weller of the University of Edinburgh and Martin Feelisch University of Southampton, Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014.
